Information Systems & Data Analysis March 27, 2008 March 28, 2008 France

http://www.univ-ubs.fr/09432220/0/fiche_11LA0__pagelibre/
Data analysis and data mining aim at finding interesting, useful or profitable information in very large databases generally stored in information systems. The enormous increase of available information systems, in size of available scientific and commercial databases, as well as the continuing and exponential growth in performance of present day computers, make Information Systems and Data Analysis very active fields.

One of the challenges, however, resides in the ability of the tools to reply to very precise needs for specific applications or trade Therefore, traditional methods have to be revised and driven by the trades.

The workshop will be the occasion for pioneers in the Information Systems and Data
Analysis fields to meet and discuss main trends and developments. Two areas will be
considered:

* Finance and financial risk, bank data
* Structured data like geographical data, text, …

International Database Engineering & Applications Symposium September 3, 2008 September 5, 2008 Germany

http://ideas.concordia.ca
The symposium provides an international forum for discussion of the problems of engineering database systems involving not only database technology but the related areas of information retrieval, multimedia, human machine interface and communication. The goal of IDEAS is to foster closer interaction among the industrial, research and user communities and provides an excellent opportunity for them to meet, discuss ideas, examine the current ones and develop new solutions and research directions. Along with the technical sessions, the symposium also features prominent invited speakers.

IDEAS series of symposiums are scheduled annually and have been held since 1997 in North America, Europe and Asia. It has attracted participants from governmental and non-governmental agencies, industries, and academia to exchange ideas and share experiences.

IDEAS invites quality papers describing original ideas and new findings on applied technological and theoretical aspects of database engineering and applications. In particular we welcome submissions describing work on integrating new technologies into products and applications, on experiences with existing and novel techniques, and on the identification of unsolved challenges. We consider this symposium to be a unique and important forum to discuss experiences in applying databases to actual situations.

Industrial Applications of Agent-Based Information Fusion - Managing Uncertainty and Risk February 28, 2008 February 28, 2008 United Kingdom

http://www.regonline.com/argusconf2008
The integration of agent-based computing techniques with probabilistic inference that can deal with limited resources and real-world uncertainty is being pioneered by the Universities of Oxford and Southampton.
These techniques are currently being developed and assessed for possible exploitation by the ARGUS II industrial partners. Each of the three
application areas requires the construction of scaleable, distributed information fusion solutions.
During the conference:
QinetiQ will demonstrate advanced data fusion in Wide-Area Surveillance applications for the protection of critical UK infrastructures. Agents ensure that sensors are focused on high-priority objects and object locations,
improving the quality of the picture for the human operator.
Rolls-Royce will demonstrate its Shop Visit Planner, an agent-based planning and scheduling system for aero engine repair and overhaul.
The agents, representing fleet planners and other stakeholders, adaptively negotiate to schedule engine shop visits.
BAE SYSTEMS will demonstrate Decentralised Air Traffic Control, a revolutionary approach in which airlines are empowered to plan and negotiate their own routes through the airspace. The system is motivated by projections
of congested skies, as well as recent technology developments.

Miracle Scotland Database Forum 2007 May 29, 2007 May 31, 2007 United Kingdom

http://www.miracleltd.com/index.asp?page=167&page2=343
We are very proud to announce that the Miracle Scotland Database Forum is being held at Edinburgh Castle from Tuesday 29th May through to the 31 May 2007.

This will be the most prestigious meeting of Oracle specialists that has ever taken place not only in Scotland, but in the entire UK. It will have one special stream running over the three days, ensuring that our delegates will never have to choose between hearing one expert and missing another.

The speakers for this special event have been drawn from the UK, Europe and North America, many making long journeys especially to be present. Eighteen sessions in total have been scheduled, to be addressed by world experts in their fields. Our speakers include Jonathan Lewis & James Morle from the UK, Dan Fink from Denver USA, Kurt Van Meerbeeck from Belgium, Bill (Shrek) Thater from Texas USA, Joze Senegacnik from Slovenia, Alex Gorbachev from Ottawa Canada, Doug Burns from Edinburgh, Tuomas Pystynen from Finland, Carel-Jan Engel & Anjo Kolk from The Netherlands, and CEO of Miracle A/S Copenhagen Mogens N?rgaard. Our special guest speaker is Dave Ensor, well known for many years as an outstanding speaker and specialist in Oracle technology. All are very experienced speakers, having addressed conferences in many parts of the world over many years.

The event will open at The Whisky Heritage Centre on the evening of 29 May 2007with a couple of technical sessions in the Centre, following which there will be a guided tour, a tutored whisky tasting session, and a general opportunity to socialise and network, all within the exclusive environment of the Heritage centre.

The following day will be a full series of technical sessions, in the Queen Anne Building in Edinburgh Castle. The evening relaxation will commence with refreshments courtesy of Miracle Beer (especially imported from Denmark), served on the Castle battlements. The highlight of the evening will be a grand Gala Dinner, to be addressed by our guest of honour, Dave Ensor. This will be followed by a ceilidh, together with an opportunity of a private tour of the Crown Jewels and Stone of Destiny.

The last day will be another full one, with sessions commencing at 09:00 running through to 17:00 in the Queen Anne Building. Following this will be a last opportunity to explore Edinburgh Castle, until it closes 18:30pm.

Because of the space constraints within the Queen Anne Building, we have reluctantly had to limit total attendance figures to 100 participants (including speakers). It is recommended that early booking is made to ensure your place at what will undoubtedly be the highlight of the year, not just for the Scottish or UK Oracle community, but for the world wide Oracle community as a whole.

Storage-Virtualisierung April 25, 2007 Germany

http://www.iqpc.de/de-11547-001
? Rechenzentrum
? Storage/Speichermanagement
? IT Infrastruktur
? IT Administration
? IT Architektur
? IT Management
? IT Strategie
? IT Services
? IT Engineering
