Software Engineering Today 2006 - Building Better Software Faster and Smarter May 9, 2006 May 10, 2006 Switzerland

http://www.set-conference.com
?Software Engineering Today? is aimed at professionals
involved in decisions regarding software development
processes, methods, and technologies (e.g. IT managers,
project leaders, software architects, etc.). This conference
provides an excellent overview regarding the state-ofthe-
art in modern software engineering.
Meanwhile we are surrounded by ?software everywhere?
both in our daily lifes and in business. Often we are not even
aware of how much software is used because the software
is embedded in systems. It is absolutely essential that we are
able to take advantage of the latest technologies to build
the software for such systems better, faster, and smarter.
The conference will comprise three parallel tracks of
presentations, several keynotes, and a panel discussion.
It will be complemented with a technology exhibition.

Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) USA

http://www.xtalks.com/SOA.ashx
To ensure a competitive advantage companies today need to allow processes to interconnect easily in a flexible infrastructure based on business needs. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is therefore an ideal approach for the modern enterprise if properly managed and secured, it can provide the reliability and interoperability that is crucial to the open ended data flow that is needed to help companies succeed in this technologically driven economy.

To fully benefit from SOA, companies need to employ the right metrics and be consistent in their use. In the near future, as organizations increase the flexibility and responsiveness of their business processes by directly interoperating with their suppliers, customers, and other partners, the SOA approach will become indispensable.

Speakers at this event will demonstrate:

* How SOA relates/compares with other IT approaches (e.g., EA, BPM, BRE, MDA, EDA, etc.)?
* What is the real value added to business and how does it improve ROI?
* What is the impact (and relationship) of SOA with component/process reuse, model-driven engineering, Web Services vs. MQ/EAI vs. DW/EII vs Workflows/Portals?
* The key success factors for SOA in the short vs. long run?

Speakers:
James Mckenney, Information Security Officer, Security Bank of Kansas
- Stephane Gagnon, Associate Professor, New Jersey Institute of Technology

First International Workshop on Software Aspects of Context July 19, 2004 July 19, 2004 Lebanon

http://diuf.unifr.ch/people/kouadri/iwsac04
Scope and Topics
To better assist users, smart devices must sense and react to the user?s environment or ?context.? Almost any information available at the time of an interaction between a system and a user can be seen as contextual information. Some examples are obtained through sensors: spatial information (e.g. location, orientation), temporal information (e.g. time of the day, date), who you are with, and people that are nearby, resources that are nearby (e.g. accessible devices, and hosts), etc.
Such information is used to design adaptive systems and to provide custom services to users based on their profile and preferences. Pervasive environments are the prime field for context-aware computing where many applications have emerged in the last decade.

While early models mainly addressed the modeling of context with respect to one application domain and vary in the context they represent, no uniform context model is actually achieved. This is of main interest since many applications can benefit from it.
By organizing this workshop, we aim at addressing the problem of coupling both approaches from a software engineering perspective. We look for original submissions on the following topics (but not limited to):

? Software aspects of context acquisition tools and techniques
? Object-oriented techniques applied to user modeling and context modeling
? Software frameworks for Context-aware applications
? Design patterns applied to context-aware applications
? Context in pervasive/multi-agents systems
? Context in security issues

TOOLS - Technology of Object-Oriented Languages and Systems - is the major series of international [#%0#2]conferences[/#%0#2] and exhibition entirely devoted to the applications of component and object technology. Its emphasis is on the practice of object technology and its applications in industrial environments, complementing the more academically-oriented perspective of traditional conferences. TOOLS provides a balanced coverage of the wealth of approaches, trends and variants in the object-oriented community. For anyone interested in OT, the TOOLS Conferences are the best places to learn from the experts and compare experiences with other O-O practitioners.

Component Based Analysis & Design Using UML June 4, 2002 June 7, 2002

http://www.objectknowledge.com/PublicSchedule.html
You’ve read the all the books and magazine articles about Components. UML looks pretty straightforward and easy to do, and you even understand what an object is. Unfortunately you still have questions. How do you get started? What’s the difference between Analysis and Design? What UML diagrams do I use and when? The problem is that the books usually don’t give you a step-by-step process backed up with plenty of exercises. What’s more, every book uses a slightly different process, different examples, and seems incomplete. Don’t worry; we’ve got what you need.

Our four-day learning experience will give you what you need to tackle that next Analysis and Design project from end to end. We have put together a comprehensive approach, based on current methodologies tempered with real-world experience. We present this with examples from real projects.

We will present Analysis and Design as part of an integrated Software Development Process. You will learn about the artifacts that need to be produced, the relationships between the artifacts, and the activities necessary to produce the artifacts. This will be reinforced by realistic exercises that will drive home the lessons learned.

Objectives
? Understand the concepts and principles of Object Technology and component based development
? Learn how to capture and communicate user-centric requirements with use cases, components, and business objects
? Become proficient in modeling with UML
? Learn robust design practices through proven design patterns
? Learn how to design flexible and reusable component architectures
? Learn how to map UML designs into an object-oriented language
? Learn how to leverage and integrate legacy systems with Object Technology

Who Will Attend
Analysts, designers, developers and project managers who require practical knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design, component based development and UML.

Exercises
Exercises and examples will provide students with the opportunity to try the UML constructs presented, and to get hands-on experience with the best practices presented in class.
