Amazing e-Learning II 2008 March 7, 2008 March 11, 2008 Thailand

http://www.db-s.co.th/conference2008
Introduction
The important role of e-Learning nowadays can be seen as the use of new multimedia technologies and the Internet to improve the quality of learning by facilitating access to resources and services, as well as remote exchanges and collaboration. e-Learning is also seen as a means to advance social inclusion, active citizenship and lifelong personal development.

The decision to use e-Learning strategically has already been made. There are hundreds of millions of people everyday learning from a variety of online courses on the Internet. People are turning towards a means of taking control of their own learning which helps them to plan, manage and adjust learning strategies to suit their purposes.

By and large people have figured out how to make the best of the technology for themselves. Recognising that this is the case, and not how to promote e-Learning, should shape e-Learning providers’ approach. What role can e-Learning providers play? How can e-Learning providers enhance support for current e-Learning users? How can e-Learning providers make the resources the learners want available to them? In terms of public policy, how can e-Learning providers address the traditional objectives of education in an environment where people are now making their own learning decisions? E-Learning providers may need to stop thinking of themselves as being the total solution providers, and start thinking from a service and support role perspective.

Aims

The 2nd ?Amazing e-Learning? conference’s aims are:

1) To create an opportunity for educational institutes, human resource units, e-learning product and service providers, from both public and private sections, to meet and exchange information and technology in educational administration, in order to utilize new technologies for the reduction of cost of human resource development in an organization.

2) To establish e-learning collaborative network among universities from Thailand and around the world.

3) To serve as a stage for exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as publicize academic research and articles on e-learning to international audience.

4) To serve as a venue for demonstration of various e-learning products and service, such as courseware, hardware, and software from leading companies from Thailand and countries over the world, for future education.

Themes

The scope of the conference includes but is not limited to the following topics: e-Learning in both theoretical and technological perspectives, edutainment, hardware, software development, digital content, instructional design, LMS, LCMS, systems integration, content standards, and collaboration. Therefore, all e-Learning topics are welcome.

http://www.unimarconi.it/guide/usa/
The GUIDE Thematic Workshop American Area is the third of a series of regional meetings of excellence organised in collaboration with Universit? Telematica “Guglielmo Marconi” in order to improve cooperation and intercultural research between American universities, institutions, public and private bodies which are devoted to distance education and e-learning.
Bringing together academic research and practical application, the event aims at advancing the practice of e-learning by comparing the results achieved in the field of new methodologies and applications for distance learning, web-enabled technology, e-communication and networked universities in both Industrialized and Developing Nations.

The main themes of 2008 Workshop American Area will cover aspects such as distance education and training, e-inclusion and accessibility, digital divide and digital opportunities, sustainable integration of microfinance with education, knowledge dissemination and social interaction. The Workshop contributes to the sharing of best practices and experiences in connecting higher education with the new cultural and economic context and in developing and implementing the internationalisation of higher education and curricula.

An innovative approach to e-learning and models of reference used and promoted by GUIDE Association will also be illustrated in order to elaborate new suggestions for the definition of a common intervention field based on ?good practices? and ?quality standards? in view of a Quality Assessment and Certification of trans-national education systems.

21st Century Education: The Real and The Ideal October 9, 2007 October 10, 2007 USA

http://education-2007.org
The Center for Internet Research (TCFIR), in concert with Colorado State University is hosting ?21st Century Education ? The Real and the Ideal?, a conference focused on ?what?s next? in the social/cultural, methodological, and technological dimensions of education. The conference theme speaks to the need for a realistic appraisal of the state of education and reform efforts, and what present realities indicate for the future, coupled with constructive and well-informed speculation about how change in education can be better managed to serve the need of students, educators, parents, industry, and society as a whole; the real and the ideal.

At the heart of this conference is a project in the early stages of planning for the development of next-generation, accredited K-12 computer-aided teaching and learning environment (CAT/L) which will incorporate the best of what we presently know. More than an attempt at another ?online education system?, this project will address the situated, contextual problem of education from a holistic and cross-disciplinary perspective. The thesis underlying this project is that previous attempts at ?education reform? have met with difficulties because solutions have not been adequately integrated into, or accounted for, the total social system of education. Therefore, technology in education, while desirable because of numerous potential benefits, cannot be limited in scope to superior content, assessment methodology, lesson-planning, parental involvement, or accountability but must address all of these needs and more. In addition, the technological concept underlying this project do not attempt to eliminate classrooms or teachers but focus instead on helping teachers and students do more with better results. In this context, technology must be made to serve people and facilitate what people do best, in practicable, adaptive, streamlined ways.

We believe that bringing together leaders in education, business, academia, and government in a conference environment organized around these themes will produce significant new ideas, perspectives, and initiatives unlike other education conferences.
