In this one day workshop we’ll examine and practice cutting edge techniques from the Agile and Lean software development movements: techniques proven to help leaders build more effective teams.

The annual Conference on Illinois History is the state’s largest meeting devoted to the history of the Prairie State. This is the fourteenth year of the conference, which is sponsored by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. The conference will feature topics on many aspects of Illinois history such as politics, architecture, community studies, Abraham Lincoln, African American history, and the Civil War.

Teachers will benefit from workshops on a variety of topics. All teacher workshop sessions are approved for Continuing Professional Development Units (CPDUs).

Language Futures is the sixth biennial conference organised by LLAS Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies (LLAS), The University Council of Modern Languages (UCML) and the Association of University Language Centres (AULC). It aims to bring together language teachers and researchers from across languages and related disciplines. It will be of interest to those in higher education and related sectors including secondary schools and further education.It is also aimed at representatives of business, language professions and any other employers who wish to develop closer links with education in the field of languages. It is intended as a forum for networking, sharing ideas and resources ,and exploring ways of meeting the challenges of sustaining good quality language education.

The conference will address five key themes relating to the current and emerging landscape of languages in education:

1. Engaging with policy

2. Learning and Teaching

3. Graduate skills and employability

4. Internationalisation and mobility

5. Transition into higher education

We welcome a broad spectrum of scholarly and research-informed presentations relating to one or more of these themes from colleagues at all stages of their career in both education and research-led roles. We are also inviting submissions to our ideas workshop which will be a forum for the presentation and discussion of practical and innovative teaching solutions. Each idea will be offered via a poster and short presentation with participants being invited to respond with comments, further ideas and examples from their own practice.
